Elise Ward is a true loft pioneer. She moved into her first loft, in Tribeca, in 1975. Five years later she obtained her real estate license, and she’s been working full-time as broker ever since. Elise has sold hundreds of co-ops and condo lofts in various stages of development in the downtown area—from completely raw spaces in what were once commercial buildings to luxury units of the new-construction era. She has also sold pre-war apartments, penthouses, and brownstones in the West Village as well as small commercial and historical buildings for one-family conversions; but her primary focus (and passion) is co-op or condo sales in converted loft buildings.
Though she has worked at several of the city’s leading real estate firms, for the majority of her career Elise ran her own independent brokerage company out of her Tribeca loft. She has extensive experience—and great success—in helping buyers navigate the challenging process of co-op board interviews. To date, all of her clients have been approved! Therefore it’s no surprise that her business comes solely from referrals from former satisfied and grateful customers.
Born and raised in Zimbabwe, Elise came to the U.S. via England, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in 3-D design and taught pottery. After arriving in New York she enrolled at New York University and earned a master’s degree in international education. She was a member of Community Board 1 for several years, both during and after 2001, where she served on the Landmarks and Tribeca committees. She is a longtime member of the Real Estate Board of New York.
